Glass Beads

History

Decorative glass dates back to ancient Egypt. It was introduced to Japan from China around 2,000 years ago. In 1549, Francis Xavier brought modern European glass products back to Japan, marking the beginning of a new era of glass. The production of mirrors, lenses, and glass beads flourished in Sakai and Tamatsukuri.
